Overview

On behalf of our client, a leading independent building contractor known for delivering comprehensive Building, Mechanical & Electrical, and Maintenance solutions, we are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator.

Our client is dedicated to enhancing and maintaining some of London's most prestigious buildings and heritage assets. The successful candidate will work on a diverse portfolio of refurbishment, maintenance and development projects, typically ranging from £100k to £2m in value.

Role Summary

The Construction Estimator will join an established pre-construction team consisting of a Contract Manager, an M&E Estimator and a Quantity Surveyor. This role requires strong experience in construction estimating, the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and a keen eye for detail to produce accurate and competitive cost estimates across a variety of building projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare and submit budget estimates for construction and refurbishment projects.
* Analyse drawings, specifications, schedules of works and technical documentation to produce detailed cost estimates.
* Prepare detailed take-offs and pricing for labour, materials, plant and subcontract packages.
* Liaise with contractors, suppliers, architects, consultants and internal stakeholders throughout the estimating process.
* Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive tender submissions.
* Utilise market intelligence and historical data to prepare accurate and competitive tenders.
* Maintain effective communication with clients and stakeholders regarding project costs and value engineering opportunities.
* Ensure all estimates align with client requirements, industry standards and project specifications.
* Assist with tender presentations, negotiations and pre-construction planning activities where required.

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Construction Estimator within the construction sector.
* Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and building practices across refurbishment, maintenance and development projects.
* Experience pricing projects ranging from £100k to £2m.
* Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
* Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
